Bar Cod - Similiar to Bass or Groper

Bar Cod are similiar to Bass or Groper, known in New Zealand as Hapuku. They grow to enormous size and are a fair way down. I was very surprised when Bill hooked his Bar Cod on a jig! It's a fair way out to catch these fish, and the weather needs to be good. We use heavy gear for these guys, and you need to take a look at the 'gear' page to make sure you've got the right rod and reel. They come up like surfacing submarines. Awesome fun!
